Alex joined Ramboll in 1997 as a graduate and is now a Divisional Director leading the Buildings team within the London office.
Alex has 20 years’ experience in the structural design and management of building structures. She has experience in all structural materials through involvement in diverse market sectors, from commercial and residential through to health and education, with a number of award winning projects to her name. She counts both contractors and developers as key clients and her input on projects helps bridge the gap between design and construction.
She has developed and broadened her technical skills through post graduate study with an MBA. As a structural engineer, she is interested in a holistic approach to building design and likes to engage with the wider aspects of a project and design team.
Alex is great collaborator and uses her enthusiasm for the industry to engage and encourage the next generation of engineers to reach their full potential. She participates in external mentoring, panel events and leads the Gender diversity initiative within Ramboll.
Containing 3,800 cubic metres of timber, the William Perkin High School is the largest cross laminated timber building in the UK.
Upon completion the largest cross laminated timber panel structure in the UK saving an estimated 2,900 tonnes of CO2. The structural design for the 9,500 sq m flexible school accommodation utilised 3D integrated modelling.
