Barry Williams joined Ramboll in 2006, becoming Principal Engineer in 2014. He is currently Mersey Gateway Technical and Project Team Scheme Consultant.
Barry’s wide ranging design, project management and site management experience has been built up within the highways sector, having worked in the design office and on site for the contractors’ and designers’ teams, fulfilling highway and highway structures design project/ construction management and designers site liaison roles.
His wider experience covers a broad section of civil engineering works such as earthworks, drainage, pavement, utilities, signs and road markings, lighting and retaining walls including reinforced earth and anchors. He has also gained extensive knowledge of setting up and operating/auditing quality assurance systems.
Projects have included new roads in environmentally sensitive areas, motorway improvement and re-surfacing schemes, on-line road improvement schemes, both with significant traffic management input, structural investigation and repair works and also rail infrastructure works, with both temporary and permanent structures adjacent to operational network rail infrastructure. The A477 road forms part of the Trans European Road Network (TERN), a strategic route linking mainland Europe with West Wales and Ireland. Ramboll was appointed transport and environmental consultant in an Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) form of contract to design and deliver a £47m improvement scheme.
