“"I relish getting to know a historic building, its history, construction, materials and problems. It is a privilege to play a part in securing a future for some of Britain’s best loved historic structures."”

Jackie Heath is a conservation engineer within the Structures Group of Ramboll in the UK. She joined consulting engineers Gifford (now Ramboll) in 1993.

Jackie has a wide range of experience including the inspection, appraisal, maintenance and design of repair solutions for historic structures.  She is currently a Project Associate with a portfolio of projects including Chiswick House & Garden Restoration, Hastings Pier, The Iron Bridge, Shropshire, Westminster Hall at the Palace of Westminster, Horse Guards Parade, the conversion of a former fire station in Marylebone to The Firehouse hotel, and the conservation of the Secret Wartime Tunnels at Dover Castle.

Jackie has been working predominantly in the historic environment since 1997 combining good conservation practice and major structural refurbishments of significant buildings and infrastructure.  In 2004 she completed an MSc in Building Conservation at Bath University.  She is Honorary Secretary of the Association for Studies in the Conservation of Historic Buildings and a Conservation Accredited Engineer.

Her role is to enable the repair, strengthening or adaptation of buildings or infrastructure with minimum intervention into their historic fabric.  This is always informed by combining an understanding of heritage significance and engineering behaviour. For each project she leads a small team of specialists who share a passion for historic engineering, bringing a bespoke service supported from within a larger multidisciplinary consultancy.

TfL Structures and Tunnels Investment Portfolio (STIP)

The London 2012 Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games was Britain's largest peacetime logistical exercise and a major challenge for Transport for London (TfL). London's road network had suffered decades of under-investment preceding TfL’s ownership, and the highest priority structures had to be in a state of good repair before the Games began.
