Mike Mittendorfer joined Ramboll's building structural engineering team in 2007. 

Mike’s energy, enthusiasm and professionalism are qualities greatly valued by his clients, resulting in the vast majority of Mike’s projects coming from repeat work.

Throughout his career at Ramboll he has worked on some of London’s most prized assets, including; Temperate House, where our work as lead consultant and conservation engineer helped update and restore the largest surviving Victorian glasshouse in the world; phase 2 of the £800m extension to BBC’s headquarters in Portland Place, a highly constrained site at just 5m above underground lines; and CitizenM Hotel, Tower Hill, located within a UNESCO world heritage site the new hotel interfaces with the original Roman City Wall and Tower Hill Underground station.

Mike’s 30 years’ experience extends new build, refurbishment and historic projects within the education, commercial, residential, industrial sectors, mixed-use and public sector (museums, galleries, parks and palaces).

Reopened in May 2018 by David Attenborough, Temperate House is a magnificent Victorian glasshouse in the heart of Kew Gardens. A five year restoration project has repaired and updated the building ready for today's visitors and tomorrow’s needs.

CitizenM Hotel, Tower Hill

Transformation of a  five storey 1960’s office into an affordable 370 key luxury hotel. Located within a UNESCO world heritage site, the hotel interfaces with the original Roman City Wall and London Underground station. Lightweight offsite modular steel pod solution enabled an additional  four floors.

We refurbished London's grade II listed Great Northern Hotel - a railway terminus hotel with extraordinary spatial constraints.

The Great Northern Hotel Refurbishment

The worlds first great railway hotel first built in 1854. Complete refurbishment with extraordinary spatial constraints around the existing Grade 2 masonry structure and cantilevered stone stair cores also sustainable servicing requirements for the plant and distribution systems.
