“"Identifying below-ground risks early on means that you make the right decisions for your site. Technically, it may be complex but that shouldn't be the client's problem."”

Curriculum vitae

Mohsen Vaziri joined the practice in 2001 and has been director since 2004.
He founded and leads our UK geotechnical engineering team.

In almost three decades as a geotechnical engineer, Mohsen has developed impressive expertise on projects ranging from large scale civil engineering to complex urban geotechnics — including developments that expand the boundaries of construction knowledge.

His comprehensive experience finds him well placed to handle the challenges of new and emergent technologies: deep sea wind farms are a recent example. On urban sites, he has helped clients to achieve extraordinarily ambitious aims at acceptable levels of risk. Such projects often include deep excavations on confined sites and construction above, below or near to underground tunnels and railways lines, both existing and planned. The analysis and design of substructures and foundations — including the re-use of existing foundations — is another area of particular strength. As an active contributor to geotechnical engineering knowledge, Mohsen has published on his findings in these fields.

These specialisms complement the full range of Mohsen's skills, which include project feasibility, planning, technical management, interpretation of major site investigations, independent review, soil-structure interaction analysis and geotechnical modelling.

Mohsen is a calm and confidence-inspiring member of the project team, able to communicate highly technical issues clearly and with full consideration of the implications for risk, budget and other client priorities.
