24 May 2019
Ramboll has joined the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC) - an organisation that works towards developing new wind markets globally. Through the network, we can help apply experiences from mature wind markets to new emerging offshore markets, and thereby contribute to further the development of sustainable energy sources globally.

By joining GWEC, Ramboll becomes part of a global network that strives towards creating a better policy environment for wind power, through education of both local and national governments and international agencies on the benefits of wind energy.

“Being part of an organisation that gathers the leading actors within wind energy is a great way to push knowledge about the benefits of wind power even further, by representing the global wind industry as a joint force. This allows us to better advocate for the wind power environment and foster best practices and technology innovation across global markets”, said Klaus Jacob Jensen, Ramboll.

Ramboll has more than 30 years of experience in the wind industry and is a market leading consultant within the offshore wind business.

“Due to the extent of Ramboll’s experience in the industry, we have prior acquaintance with many of the GWEC members, and joining GWEC gives us an opportunity to strengthen and enhance our network while actively contributing to globalising offshore wind”, adds Klaus.

“We are delighted to welcome Ramboll on board to GWEC and to our Offshore Wind Taskforce. To make the offshore wind market truly global, the expertise of a player such as Ramboll is crucial to ensure that learnings and experiences of mature offshore markets like the European markets are applied to the new conditions of emerging offshore markets”, said Ben Backwell, CEO at GWEC.

GWEC is a member-based organisation that represents the entire wind energy sector. The members of GWEC represent over 1,500 companies, organisations and institutions in more than 80 countries, including manufacturers, developers, component suppliers, research institutes, national wind and renewables associations, electricity providers, finance and insurance companies.
