The competition was strong this year and included a multitude of the regions internationally recognized consultancies. Ramboll was shortlisted for the following categories:
The event is considered the most prestigious awards evening within the field of MEP in the Middle East. The awards are presented at an evening gala dinner and this year it was held in the Sofitel Hotel on Palm Jumeriah. The evening was well attended with approximately 350 industry professionals and Ramboll were successful winning the Mechanical Project of the Year 2014 for Khalifa University. Bill Jolly and Bright Chellathangam were on hand to collect the award and took Michael Magill from RSP architects up on stage as they were Ramboll’s guests for the evening and the main architect for the project.
There were a multitude of MEP team members involved with the project but principally Sunil George was the leader of the mechanical team whilst Rabab Hussain lead the electrical team. The project had some very unique challenges and complicated sustainable mechanical solutions were considered and adopted during the detailed design stage. In addition to the complicated design solutions the project was delivered utilizing Revit. These sustainable mechanical solutions and the project being delivered in Revit were attributions recognized by the professional panel of judges as “the award winning difference” between our competitors in the same category.
The Khalifa University Extension Phase 1 Project will add an additional area of 120,000 sqm to the existing 34,500 sqm of the current campus. Ramboll provided multidisciplinary services for extension.
