Ramboll is the structural and MEP sub-consultant to Gleeds-URC, the main contractor for the multinational oil & gas company, Shell for their gas stations project. At the recent Global Internal Recognition Forum held by Shell, Ramboll and Gleeds-URC team were the recipients of the ‘Q1 2020 Retail Replication Recognition Award for the Pre-Engineered Building (PEB)’ for the significant contribution made in designing Shell’s retail units to ensure optimum utilisation of space and material while enabling the highest quality and timely delivery of services. Gleeds URC and Ramboll team’s successful design is officially being replicated by Shell Mexico Market Unit for their Retail growth program. Mexico has successfully replicated the PEB and the Global Engineering team has recognised team India for the effort and contribution.
Shell said in their award recognition citation “This recognition and replication marks an important milestone in establishing India as a reliable source of innovative thinking and constantly pushing the boundaries of Safer, Faster, Cheaper & Greener.”
Shell’s Country Network Delivery Manager, Ronald Rosario said “The prefabricated building you have introduced right from the first URC-Gleeds project, helped us to reduce HSSE risks and reduce construction time”
Gleeds Director Siva Senathipathy said “Ramboll has been an integral part of our Shell delivery program and supported us in delivering this PEB building”
Shell has a huge emphasis on establishing a strong relationship with their customers, and therefore very particular about sustainable design and aesthetics of the retail station. Keeping the client’s requirements in mind, Ramboll’s experts suggested an innovative option of using PEBs, which are also sustainable.
Vaibhav Paroha who is Ramboll’s Project Manager for this project said “PEBs reduce time and cost significantly without compromising on the quality, and the designs were also customised to adhere to Shell’s international design standards. The team at Shell is also delighted with Ramboll’s fuel piping optimisation technique that was implemented in this project which offers a sustainable solution to resource utilisation as well. It always feels great when your client appreciates the work done and more so, when it is with an award.”
