Ramboll’s Smart Mobility team in Singapore wins large traffic study

LTA is the statutory board for the Government of Singapore spearheading land transport developments. Responsible for planning and maintaining Singapore’s land transport infrastructure and systems, LTA looks for innovative and efficient solutions to collect traffic data nationwide.

Appointed to carry out the traffic study, Ramboll is providing LTA with an innovative and sustainable solution which reduces the manpower requirements, as compared to traditional survey methods.

“To conduct the survey we will be using video recording equipment and video analytic technologies” stated Nick Fellows, Ramboll’s Head of Smart Mobility in Singapore “Once we have set up the specialised traffic survey cameras which will automatically activate during specified survey hours. The videos will be collected and analysed with vehicle recognition software by our engineers and our partners to obtain the traffic data.”

It is anticipated that more than 300,000 hours of data and videos will be collected nationwide over the next two years.
