Greenwich Peninsula is a new development consisting of over 10,000 new homes and commercial space. The development has a build programme of 20 years.
Ramboll Energy is presently commissioned to carry out the work which requires the implementation of a low carbon site wide energy infrastructure, consisting in the main of an Energy Centre and a district heating network.
The energy centre will contain CHP plant, thermal store, biomass and gas fired boilers, pumps, pressurisation, controls and water treatment and to be able to connect to future heat production technologies including other heat networks such as the London Thames Gateway Heat Network (LTGHN).
The heat network is to be designed to allow development in a phased growth acknowledging the timescales involved. The heat production technology is to be determined through a fuel supply options study and technology appraisal, reflecting the aspirations for low carbon energy and the requirement for a cost effective solution.
Future work will involve the detailed design, production of Tender documentation and the assessment of the Tender bids. Provision for Site Supervision is also envisaged and this will require a dedicated team of engineers to cover the build programme of 12 months.
Customer Value
A concept design is produced to allow the Client to assess the financial viability and sustainability of the project prior to the detailed design stage. The project, therefore, involves working with the Client’s Cost and Business Consultants to help determine financial viability.
