Principal Inspection of Highway Structures in UAE.
Highway structures are vital elements in Nakheel’s iconic development and enable access to the island. The whole life costs of the structures are expected to be significant. The number of highway structures that require a fully detailed asset management system is increasing.
Although the majority of the existing Nakheel bridges and tunnels were constructed within the past ten years, the need for inspection, maintenance and rehabilitation is essential to keep the road assets in service in a safe and usable condition. The effective management of these assets will help to secure a longer serviceable life for the structure.
Ramboll carried out comprehensive Principal Inspection of different highway structures in Palm Jumeirah, Jumeirah Island and Interchange 5.75. Ramboll inspected structures including: 43 bridges, 4 tunnels and underpasses, 19 gantry signs, cantilever traffic lighting, retaining walls, and other minor structures.
Ramboll’s scope of work also included traffic diversion plans at locations where inspections were being carried out; to ensure safe and smooth flow of live traffic at the sites.
