Ramboll's consultancy services within the floating production sector cover FPSO type vessels, semi-submersibles and rigs. Our portfolio ranges from conceptual studies, FEED and detailed design of all topsides facilities to weight monitoring, project management and comprehensive risk and safety analyses.

Ramboll provides precision weight and cost estimations for topsides of platforms, semi-submersibles and FPSOs. This enables our clients to make informed investment decisions.

Minding safety, stability and regulatory requirements

For both new and retrofit structures, it is crucial to perform continuous weight and stability controls to ensure safety. Using our dedicated weight monitoring system, we can simulate future situations in order to determine the stability of all planned platform modifications.

To ensure timely project execution, we identify legislative and environmental requirements and devise comprehensive environmental programmes to secure approvals and permits. Moreover, we can act as technical authority and carry out design verifications.

Pre-engineering and detailed design on Nexus FPSO topsides

In 2006 Ramboll Oil & Gas commenced our biggest project to date when we initiated the pre-engineering work on the Nexus project for APL NEXUS and Samsung. Nexus is a generic FPSO with a free and fully weather-vaning turret mooring that can accommodate up to 6 risers.

The Piranema FPSO

The Piranema FPSO - designing for a confined space

The FPSO (Floating Production, Storage and Offloading) Piranema is the world's first cylinder shaped FPSO in production. It was constructed by Sevan Marine with Kanfa and Ramboll as engineering partners.

Lifetime extension for FPSO Petrojarl 1

FPSO Teekay Petrojarl I was operating on the Glitne Field for Statoil, and was planned to operate for another five years there. In turn, the owner of the FPSO, Teekay Petrojarl Production, was evaluating to extend the lifetime of the FPSO with 15 years.

Azurite Project - Drilling modules for the industry’s first FDPSO

History was made in August 2009 when Murphy West Africa Ltd. began producing the Azurite field offshore The Democratic Republic of Congo. Azurite uses the industry's first Floating, Drilling, Production, Storage and Offloading (DFPSO) vessel.

Gryphon FPSO - air compression upgrade project on an EPCM contract

The Maersk owned Gryphon Alpha FPSO processes oil and gas for the Gryphon, South Gryphon, Tullich and Maclure fields in the British North Sea. The oil is exported by tanker. Gas is exported via a pipeline to Beryl Alpha, where it is transported to shore via the SAGE system. For this project Ramboll performed detailed design including procurement and fabrication of 3 new air compressor skids.

Fire and safety

Technical safety study for Goliat FPSO

In order to ensure its safe operation in arctic conditions, Ramboll carried out a winterization study on the Goliat FPSO on behalf of the operator ENI Norge.
